About Gairloch & Poolewe

The community worshipping in Poolewe, comes from a much wider area, including the townships of Gairloch and Kinlochewe, and in between, It has a population of 950, with their nearest railway station being located at Achnasheen and the nearest mainland airport is in Inverness.

Gairloch has a small and very committed catholic community of  just fewer than 30 regular parishioners who come not only from Gairloch  but from a much wider area.  Some travel over 30 miles to  attend  Mass, hear God’s Word and to receive the Eucharist.

The numbers attending Mass are boosted in high summer sometimes to 80 by tourists and travellers willing to take time to come to Mass.
