This Wednesday is Ash Wednesday, marking the beginning of Lent. As is our customary practice on this day, Ash Wednesday is a day of fasting and abstinence. Although not a Holy Day of Obligation, a great way to start Lent is to attend mass and receive the ashes on our foreheads, symbolic of that fact that “from dust we came and to dust we shall return”, and also the fact that this is a season of penance and repentance – a “turning back to God”.
Masses on Ash Wednesday are as follows:
St. Mary’s Beauly | 10:00am |
St. Peter & St. Benedict’s, Fort Augustus | 10:30am |
Our Lady & St. Bean, Marydale, Cannich | 12:00pm |
