About St. Martin of Tours’ Church
On the 21st of September 1988 St. Martin’s was officially opened by the, then, bishop, Right Reverend Mario Joseph Conti. It was dedicated to cater for the spiritual welfare of local Catholics and the many visitors that come to the area in the summer months. It is the most north-westerly Catholic church on the Scottish mainland and indeed the only Catholic church to be found between Dornie (Isle of Skye area) and Cape Wrath.
St Martin’s is housed in a converted bakery and therefore from the outside does not look like a church!
At the moment the church roof is in dire need of repair. It leaks in many places and we are not sure if it will hold up this winter if we have a lot of rain and snow. The sum of £30-35 thousand is required to carry out the repairs and we would be extremely grateful for any contributions towards this. We have raised £3000 in the past year, even with Covid and a small congregation.
